In detail
Test centres, training providers and colleges running Functional Skills English, and providers using HEDA tests for admissions.
Question bank
A shared bank of reading, writing, listening and speaking questions, reviewed and versioned. Centres adopt questions into their own bank and hear when a newer version comes out.
Writing tests
Ten question types, sections, reading passages and audio, with marks and timings set for each test.
Sitting the exam
Full-screen tests with timers, autosave and audio recording for speaking. A sitting can bundle two to four tests, with pause and resume.
Integrity checks
Leaving full screen, switching tabs and pasting are all logged, and invigilators can watch sittings live.
Entry slips
Candidate slips with access codes and QR codes, a slips calendar and exam room codes for each test centre.
Access arrangements
Extra time, extra attempts or a moved test window for the candidates who need them.
Marking
Reading and numeric answers marked automatically, rubric scoring, and human first and second marking with a moderator to settle disagreements.
Optional AI help
Transcribing spoken answers, grammar feedback on writing and tidying scanned questions. Centres can switch it off.
Results
Results, certificates and transcripts as PDFs, with each student’s progress and statistics.
Running a centre
Bulk candidate import, staff invitations, two-factor sign-in and an audit log for each centre.
Data
Data kept in the UK or EU, nightly backups for each centre, and a full export if a centre leaves.
